CEDOVIP Underscores the Importance of Strengthening Regional and National Advocacy Convening

In the month of October, Josephine Kamisya, The executive Director of Centre for Domestic Violence Prevention based in Uganda  had the pleasure of joining other WW2  Grantee Partners from during two days  Regional Convening in Mbabane, #Eswatini , that offered opportunity to explore ways to strengthen national and regional #advocacy, and examined the political landscape and shared experiences, challenges, and solutions across diverse contexts  with a strong focus on opportunities for cross-country collaboration.  The two days event attracted  participants from Uganda, Madagascar, Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya, South Africa, Somalia, Tanzania and Eswatini.  The Convening covered Sessions among others the critical importance of: 

  • Strengthening connections between Women’s Rights Organisations (WROs) 
  • Leveraging strategic communications to amplify their leadership, impact and influence. 

The event was graced  with the presence representatives from UN Women‘s ACT to End Violence Against Women Programme and The Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID), who also shared valuable insights and strategies for accelerating efforts to end violence against women and girls. Heartfelt thanks to Women Unlimited Eswatini and the Bantwana Initiative Eswatini for their warm hospitality and for welcoming us to the beautiful Kingdom of Eswatini. Excited to build on this momentum and continue working with our Grantee Partners to increase the uptake of VAWG prevention #evidence and further demonstrate that #PreventionIsPossible with sustained investment. 

Josephine remarked that the convening was worth as it provided space for networking and collaboration with organisations championing the efforts to End Violence Against women and Girls.  She noted that with this collaboration Violence Against Women Girls will have no room in our communities and homes.
